Looking for a face
Monos is an Augmented Reality mask Web App. Masks can be swapped, resized and changed in several modes, all work in progress.
Monos is a work in progress. Over the years I have been drawing many characters, some of them connected to short stories about Lisbon. Monos is a way to put everyone posing with those characters back in the streets. I'm planning to make a mask building experience meanwhile.
Mask style
Mask carves eyes, brows and a mouth that swap as your face moves. Characters are whole painted heads — a random one of six per face, big enough to overlap whoever is standing next to you — with loose eyes of their own.
Wiggle: googly eyes that hang downward, swing when you move your head and roll with the phone's own tilt. Gaze: they lock onto the furthest other face — so it needs someone else in frame, and wiggles until there is.
Scales the mask on top of the automatic fit to your face width.
Tracking style
How the mask catches up to your head — cartoon-clumsy instead of tightly locked on.
How gentle Laggy/Springy/Jerky are, independent of which one is picked — has no effect on None, which is always instant.
Steadies the mask's size against tracking noise, which otherwise reads as breathing. Applies to every tracking style, None included, and still gets out of the way when you actually move toward the camera.
The live blendshape scores and which carved shape each one has selected.
Masks are kept in this browser only, and the oldest drop out when the store fills. Download anything you want to keep.
